(Mods: please move this if it's in the wrong place.)
Got my new leathers a couple of days ago, a Frank Thomas Titanium Pro twosie (at a very agreeable price), tried them all on, and all was good. Except for the legs. Because I'm a rugby player (or was until my knee got ruined in Feb) I have pretty huge thighs, and as such I need to get leathers that are slightly too big for me to fit over them. Because of this, the trousers are slightly too long for me. This wasn't such a problem on my old leathers, as the knee armour sat higher in the knee than normal. But on this new pair, the knee armour sags quite noticeably, even when I'm on the bike. A fix I've found for this is wearing my leathers over my boots, as the bottom edge of the knee armour gets held up by the shin armour on the boots, keeping the armour in position over my knee. (Before you say it, yes, I've tried this on the bike and everything is still solid there.) Basically... is there anything detrimental that could occur by me having the leathers outside the boots? |

Can't see a problem, unless you have ankle boots and there's a chance the leathers can slide back over and up your leg, in which case the leathers must be huge and you shouldn't be wearing them. As long as there's no bare skin showing do whatever feels comfortable

Yeah, I know. Hides all the lovely 'SIDI' logos all over my boots, makes me look all un-fashionable like. Can't be having that.
![]() Thankyou all, points duly noted, leathers will now live outside the boot. And MY_C... if they were able to slide back up my legs they'd have to be custom made they'd be so big. ![]() Now just got to get some nice knee sliders and they are all done! |

Only issue I can see is that if your leathers do not fit because of the bigger size this can be slightly dangerous as they can snag in a crash, that is why they are meant to be skin tight.

Wearing outside as against inside prevents the rain water running into your boots.
