Default Which Oil? (see top of page) Which Tyres?

After my success of problem solving yesterday with the help of yourselves (You are a friendly bunch) I have another couple of questions.

1) Which oil are you using? 10/40 Semi Synthetic? As my other ride is an R1 i use Halfords fully synthetic in that one but not sure about a V-Twin.

2) Tires, The ones on the bike are badly squared off, so i need a new set...bike will be in use everyday for commuting....obviously tire wear is important but not as important as staying upright.

Your thoughts please.

You're going to get so many peoples opinions on TYRES, everyone has their prefference.

I'm running Metzeler Z6 very happy, but Avon storms and Michelin Pilot 2CT's are other recommended tyres.

Nowt wrong with Halfrauds oil, its made by someone else anyway. Lots of people buy Hein Gerike oil, when its on offer. Its all made by one big refinery and re branded by the shop

ah kk

i use halfords 10/40 semi synth motorbike oil, never had a problem with that. re tyres i've got the old bt021s. quite a few people don't rate them, they've been ok for me, good wear but i'll change to another brand next just to see what they are like.

Semi-synth is fine, regular changes are the thing to do. Tyres: I had Metzler z6 when I bought the bike, they weren't bad, being squared off made a difference so I can't say very well. Depends on how hard you push the bike as to how much you really need to spend. If you're fairly steady Maxxis S/T might be enough, their Sportmaxx i well-rated, don't know about these though. If you're quite quick some of these new-fangled multi-compound tyres could be worth it, but they cost. Look for bargains online for matched pairs.

Best thing for your tyres is a tyre pressure guage.
