Default Will fitting a baffle affect performance?

Have a scorpian can on sv, will taking the baffle out increase fule consumption and decrease performance?

I'm not an expert, so feel free to disregard my random mumblings...

The valve overlap (time when inlet and exhaust are both open) is chosen by the manufacture based on some assumptions about exhaust back-pressure. In theory, increasing the gas flow through the exhaust could pull fresh mixture straight through the cylinder and into the exhaust, which would affect fuel economy.

However, the baffle is a long way from the engine and doesn't make enough difference to the airflow. So removing it makes no practical difference to performance and economy. The only difference I noticed when I took mine out was a slight tendency to stall when pulling away at low revs. Easily cured by keeping the revs up a bit or leaving the baffle in after the MoT.

Just my thoughts,

Keith.

in theroy as the end can is for noise dampening it shouldn't have an adverse affect if its the right bore for the sv.

Stripping out the baffle will change the back pressure as the end can in effect becomes a expansion chamber (like on a 2 stroke) but should not have an adverse effect.

my stock exhaust's baffle has degraded with age and is effecting overall back pressure so requires removing or replaced!

you'll get approx 20 extra horse power and you'll be able to do 150 mph flat out with the baffel out,and you'll use more fuel because your able to go faster than ever.

I'm only kidding though- shouldn't make much difference but my bike feels as if it runs better with baffles in.
