Default Fat Pets

That was on Sky1 tonight.

The Rottweiler, apart from making me realise just how much our Saffie really does have the Rottie look just makes me sad and angry.

The owners sat on the sofa, giving it tranq pills to prep it for the vets for a major op as he's finding it hard to walk and they are laughing and joking about the fact that he's addicted to greggs sausage rolls and jacobs crackers. He was 68 kilos and the owners, especially the wife was saying, smile on face that she "honestly" only gives him a few treats when he's good. Went in for operation and he had gone up to 68.8 kilos and STILL she was making excuses.

Is it just me or is this just really wrong. Man, I'd love to have the money to set up a foster charity whereby vets can ask owners or owners even be ordered to hand over their pets to a foster home to get it healthy and then retrain the owners in how to properly care for their pets.

Social services will remove children from homes now where the obesity is not addressed by the parents....why can't we do it for animals in cases where the owners simply won't learn.

IMO, it is pure cruelty and vets should have some powers. It seems at the moment, they are fighting a losing battle with a lot of owners that are just killing their pets with love!
