Evening
So I need to replace one of my headlights - main beam doesnt work, but high beam does. If I'm going to replace one I should replace both so I'm led to believe. Problem is I have no idea what is in there atm. Thought about HID but getting put off with wiring, and potentially cost - any words of wisdom? Looking at some threads and I'm getting a little confused what bulb/rating I should look to get, and gettng confused. What rating should I get? 55w? H4? 4200K? ![]() |

Are car/bike HID kits the same, or is there something I need to look out for?

the bike ones are different, they have a solonoid that allows the bulb to switch from high beam to low beam, the ones I have in the car do not have this, but my mates bike ones do! I think 6000k is the one most people go for, white with a small tint of blue, and 35watt bulbs are the norm and are considerably brighter than normal bulbs, 55watt ones are probably overkill.
Wiring, there is the lead coming from the bulb to the ballast, and from the ballast to your origional headlight wiring, thats all, unless you get one with ballasts that need to be connected to the battery, in which case you will have those also |

Thanks mate.
Maybe the wiring isnt so scary afterall... Will have a look later on tonight then for some bike specific ones, all I could find were car ones last night on evilblag. |

Yea, also id recommened getting a slim ballast kit as they are a lot smaller and easier to place than the normal ballasts

Ok - thanks.
I've read some people fit a relay for HID's. What's the deal with this? |
