What are people's thoughts about Givi hard luggage on the SV?
I have spent a small fortune making my bike into something I can use to tour with, and I have achieve that. The bike runs out of petrol before I am in any pain. I have a set of Oxford lifetime luggage, but I hate all the straps and general fookin about with it to get it right. I have found a place that will supply me a full set of Givi luggage colour matched to my bike for the price of a kidney, but I was wondering if this is overkill for the SV. Is the bike underpowered to kit up with a full set of luggage. I love the bike, and after the work I have had done it is a keeper, but I need the right solution to carrying stuff? ![]() ![]() |

Have a look here. Thinks it looks ok. Although it would probably be cheaper for you to sell the SV and buy a proper tourer with hard luggage already fitted.

Probably would, but if you have read what I have done already to the bike, then selling isn't an option for the foreseable future.

Dan, the cheaper givi stuff is absolutely fine, 46l top box and rack £90.
I have this on my sprint and have rammed so much stuff in it, it took me and the wifes stuff, with triumph panniers, to the AR, i had tent, airbed, pillows, clothes, shoes, everything. |

I shall look into that, because I was under the assumption that the cheaper stuff was weight restrictive

How have you managed this? I last about 100 miles and the pain/agony sets in. Im seriously considering buying a Sprint ST next year with full luggage to do some serious touring. Naturally keeping the beloved SV

I have had 3 or 4 times the 5kgs it says not to exceed in mine, they are most likely just covering their backs. If your buying panniers, then its better to load them up with heavy stuff because that will keep the COG down low. Im happy with mine and i know quite a few on here have the cheap boxes on here and they find them fine as well. The locking mechanism can be fiddly if you overfill it but apart from that, perfect. |
