Default white smoke - use of oil

ok bike smokes on start up but.... hear is the big but, it does not smell like oil and does not last for long

coolant is not creamy sight glass is fine.

oil use has gone up, using about 500ml every 2-3k thats a lot in my opinion

i dont have an oil leak no oil on heads where i have had cam covers off, no oil round filter, no oil around drain bolt or any ware on the engine.

the white smoke clears as i said above after about 2 min im thinking initial blow by the piston rings but then it would smell like oil

the other thing is in this weather my engine temp after 27 miles is still sub 38c when travelling, the rad is full and the expansion tank is topped up, if i stand the bike and rev it the temp goes up and gets to 110 then the fan kicks in so the sensor is fine, and my dash sensor is fine (after market dash uses in line sensor) is that normal

not really, depends on how its being ridden and at what speeds. The engines out in the open, mine has a bottom reading of 60c and it only ever reads over that if sat in traffic, rest of the time it doesn't move

I thought white smoke on cold start up was normal? Excessive white smoke would indicate coolant getting into one or both of the cylinders I think... I'd be taking it to the mechanic after doing all the basic checks.

not sure if its steam or not, its the oil usage thats bothering me more

and 38c is in the pi$$ing rain at around 4c air temp like it has been for the last 2-3 days

ohh and coolant level has stayed exactly the same for the last 2 months

White stuff from the zaust on cold start in damp weather sounds fine.
Running too cold could be a thermostat issue. If too much coolant is being pumped round the block it will overcool especially now the weather has turned iffy.
That oil consumption also sounds well normal to me.

If its burning oil you would smell it.Very distinctive "burning oil" smell.
And yes it will heat up when idling because there is no airflow through the rad until the fan kicks in.Even in dry weather the exhaust collects water through condensation so it could be that burning off on start up.
Does it smell of burning oil?
