Well i have had the sv650s for a year and half now. having thought's of moving onto another bike and the two that i'm thinking of are a 1999-2000 r6 or 2004 z750.
Has anyone had any experience's with these bikes? mpg? handling? i like the r6 although i have heard there are very peaky with the power, tried to look at onboards on youtube but they seem to be just pottering about a 8k which is not what i want. ![]() Much help would be appreciated. |

It depends what your after TBH
The R6 is an ideal weekend warrior bike, but loves to drink fuel (a friends averaged about 25mpg not pushing it), and a early model means it'll be very hard to get a very good nick bike (mint bikes seem to be around £2,750 when they do appear). Z750 best bet is to look on MCN as there rust issues with early ones (http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bi...50/_/R-EPI-264), people I've spoke to seem to have the same issues with the suspension as the SV's. If your wanting the everyday, i'd go for the Z750. You not considered a late CBR600F as that is the best of both worlds

thankyou for the advice, the r6 seem's the more devilish option but impractical, before i passed my car test i used my bike everyday, normally go touring etc. the cbr600f's are something that i have not looked into.
thanks for the suggestion cbr600f or z750 it could be. |

I considered a CBR600F (the old steel frame and the later ones) and the thundercats
Both are highly well made bikes and the thundercats easily do 50k without mishap and the cbr600's do even more

I have had an 2000 R6 and a steely 1993 CBR600.
The R6 is very placid up to about 7-8k then it takes off, at 12k it tries to headbutt the horizon and goes mental they are comfortable if your under 6ft. Very well made light and very easy to change direction but still stable cracking brakes all in all good bike. CBR600F bit gutless compared to the R6, comfortable but heavy and the front end even though mine had maxton springs was still vague. Brakes werent as good as the R6 by a long way. Also that model R6 does hold its money quite well. Never rode a Thundercat but I have heard good things about them but you will always think "should have bought the R6" if you got one |
