Default Any Mk1 MX-5/Eunos owners on here?

I'm thinking of getting one of these bender cars for my short time in the UK for fun, the Skoda is great on motorways but rubbish for B-roads etc.

So anyone got one?

What's the best to go for/look out for?

Top tips?

Anyone got one for sale?

Where do you keep your hairdressing equipment?

Thanks!

I used to have an MK3 unfortunately sold it.

To the hairdressers commentators (who drop bikes ) I would suggest you try hold on while drifting....

The MK1's can be had for cheap but you need to check for rust all over the place and in particular the arches. Also I seem to recall an issue with a pump? Best google it though.

Other than that if they have been looked after the engine will go FOREVER!!!

? Ask Robchester - used to have one ?
Pal of mine has one & it's been stuck on his drive for a couple of years. Battery went flat & lost security code. Even Mazda have given up!

MX-5s can be had sub 2k for a good one, underrated, huge track following compared to Z3s, I'd prefer to go for something that people think is sh1te And not an over priced bavarian.

Rob's was a Mk2 or 2.5, out of my sub 2k price range...

I was wondering what good mods to look out for, suspension wise (make/tyrpe of shock/spring or coilover), diff wise etc.

No plans to track this car but it doesn't have to be super practical.... and I know they're not that fast, FUN is what I'm after.

Have had a couple in my family back when they were newer - fun to drive. One of the big American mags (Road and Track I think) tested one with some inexpensive suspension mods and sticky tires -it became the fastest car through their slalom course at the time - beating any italian or german exotics.

I wouldn't own one now though... unless it maybe had the Ford 302 conversion (Monster "Miata" as they were known in North America)
