I have just opened garage and there is a patch of brake fluid under front left hand brake caliper. what has happened and what do i replace? thanks for any advice.

If you can't spot the leak from a visual check/trace, I'd have the lot off and serviced.

caliper seal has probably leaked, new seal kit required.

Hongman's above is probably the best advice (new copper crush washers all round)
Alternatively you could degrease and dry it all off and talc it up (or try without) and see if you can spot where it's leaking from.
