Building SV650 Race Bike?

Hi guys,

I'm new here, but have just got an SV650 which I am going to build into a race bike. I currently have a GSXR600 L0 Race Bike and also run an Irish Championship race team.

The SV is a whole new ball game to me and I'm going to build it to race next year.

The key main items that I am looking for at the moment are Bodywork and Rearsets. I have spoken to JHS Racing who have been helpful but I'm looking a bit more help and information.

Who makes bodywork to fit directly onto the SV650? The bike is a 2009 injected model, so I've been looking for a direct replacement kit, only been able to find ARD racing making a set of direct replacements?

Alternatively, what other bodywork fits quite easily? Does a kit of the GSXR600 L0 fit easily or is there any kits that are quite simple to fit. I know most can be made fit, but want something that won't take loads of fiddling either.

Any guys on here racing? What bodywork are you using and how much modification did it take to fit?

Also looking rearsets, but I believe some GSXR ones are the same so will have a good wee search.

Will need a full exhaust system also, we run Yoshimura on our GSXR race bikes, but I've heard that the M4 systems give better performance on the SV's.

Also if anyone has bodywork, rearsets, exhaust or steering damper please let me know as I have cash waiting for the correct parts.

Hi,

Just made a huge long post and it got wiped so here are links to helpful places to do with Minitwins:

Steve Jordan motorcycles - Lots of experience with Minitwins. Can supply subframes to fit GSXR fairings front and rear. GSXR fairings fit pretty easy on the SV with a bit of fettling. Sarah Jordan (Ex minitwinner, racer and Steve Jordans partner) is a member on here I think so should be able to help you out.

SDC Performance - Again lots of experience with SV's and racing in general. Coxxy on this forum has used them/knows them so should be able to advise on what they can do. I am sure they have used BB Plastics or are affiliated with them as their bikes have used BB Plastics M1GP fairing made for SV's with a fireblade seat.

BB Plastics - as mention above

AMS Motorsport - These make a bolt on fairing kit for the SV.

PDQ - Importers of Valtermoto Rearsets, which I used when I raced. Reasonably priced and pretty good rearsets.

Motoforum - Great forum for anything club racing. Always got stuff for SV's for sale in the for sale section. Currently stuff in there now.

Seen all sorts of fairings on SV's, GSXR, R6, Triumph 675 & Ducati 1098. Steve Jordan and SDC can supply different subframes for different fairings I think.

Oh re: the exhausts, M4 are commonly used on SV's as are MHP (Mark Hill Products) exhausts. Good exhausts and can repair/repack exhausts as well. Great service, not sure on price though so best off giving him a call.

JHS Racing are also very good but you have already spoken with them obviously.

Have used Steve Jordan before, so will give Sarah a call in the morning. Also work with PDQ quite a lot through the business.

Will speak with Sarah about using GSXR kit, as it'd be handy with our supersport bikes using the same bodywork. Wanting as little hassle as possible tho.

Regular user on Motoforum and can't find any SV stuff forsale.
