I've got the usual weepy plastic clutch cover on my curvy. I've tried cleaning everything, trimming the top hat washers and using a bit of silicone, but it looks like the cover is pretty warped.
One last thing to try before I get a pointy cover...has anyone bought any slightly thicker O ring cord (like THIS)to replace the original? If so did it work, and what thickness is best? |

I too had the warped clutch cover, previous owner replaced o ring and used silicone. Still wept. From what I've read the only sure fire way to resolve this is to replace the clutch cover.
I did so and the leak's stopped, using correct torqueing and sequence of tighteneing, (10nm) screwdriver tight, criss cross pattern. Thoughts are a lot of warping and case splitting can be caused by over tighteneing. I wouldn't waste time trying to seal an already warped cover, just source a new one. Good luck. Bob. |

Personally I think you're wasting your time trying to make a warped plastic cover seal properly. I stumped up and bought a Woodcraft cover. I even used the old O ring and it's not leaked a drop since being fitted.

I too had same issue. Trimmed tophat washers and fitted oversize O-ring. Can't remember size or company I bought it from but it has done over 700 miles without leaking.

To do that I assume you had to drain all the fluids.

Yes had the engine out anyway so it was worth doing.

Thanks for that, just in case my mod fails in the future. Gives more buying options.

Has anyone got an o ring from the cover that they can measure?
