Default GSR750 - Review

I have had a few requests in other thread and via PM for a review of the GSR750, I have now had it for just over 2 weeks and done 1100miles.

Please bear in mind that I have only been riding for 12 months and I am not a harcore knee down sports bike rider, I can only compare it to bikes I have previusly ridden these being a Bandit 650S(2007), SV-650S(2006), VFR800 V-tec (2011) and an ER5(old crapper for my DAS training).

As it is my first review and you notice I have missed anything just let me know and I will update it for you, also feel free to ask me for any further information.

Engine
The engine is a real gem, it pull well from 4500rpm all the way up to the limiter, compared with my previous bike (bandit 650) there is no real defined power band and no sudden rush of power and its just pull progressively stronger all the way to the top. Although I have never rode a triple the GSR’s engine is what I imagines a triple to feel like in terms of power delivery.
In terms of speed I have had a quick 2nd gear roll on race from 35mph with my brother on his 2010 gsxr-600 and considering he is 8 stone lighter than me there was only about 20 feet in it at the end of the slip road.
The exhaust system has a valve which keep more back pressure at low rpm the downside of this is the dull exhaust note at anything under 6k, a new exhaust can would fix this however there is currently around a 4-6 week wait to get an exhaust can as there doesn’t appear to be any stock in the UK.
If you ride a Suzuki at the moment then you will feel at home with the gearbox, I have ridden 3 Suzuki's and I find that their gearboxes are always slick and precise, I never realised how good Suzuki boxes are until I rode my dads 2010 VFR 800.

Riding Position
There is plenty of room, I am 6ft 2" and on the large side and I don’t find it cramped at all, the riding position is more upright compared with an SV-sport but it does feel more sporty/forwards than a bandit.
Yesterday I went out for a 200mile round trip and was totally pain free when i got back, Once surprise on the GSR is the lack of wind as I really cannot tell the difference between my half faired bandit and the GSR even at "average" outside lane motorway speeds. Maybe the bandits front fairing is crap who knows.....
If you are thinking of taking a pillion with you then I wouldnt bother as there is no grab handle, the footpegs are to high and the seat is as comfy as a concrete block.

Handling and brakes
Around town the bike feels easy to ride and easy to manoeuvre through traffic with noticeable more steering lock than a sports bike, although I must stress that the mirrors are totally useless with very little visibility I do find it difficult to change lanes on the motorway.
Once you get on some country roads or sweeping A roads you will notice how planted the bike feels, the bike seems to beg for more punishment and it does make you feel a little naughty. It also provides plenty of feedback to the rider although it doesn’t feel twitchy.
Although it only has 2 pot callipers on the front the brakes do feel sharp, responsive and a lot better than the bandit I had before.
For some strange reason ABS isn’t an option on the UK model which I would of purchased for sure.

Styling
See the below picture showing me around Rivington,
If you buy one be prepared for a lot of attention from other bikers, when ever I stop at Rivvy Barn I get a lot of bikers asking me question about it.

It feels twice as fast, its not far off a gixxer 600, the downside of a bandit is that you really need to be above 8k for it to move, the GSR just goes in any gear.

You've had this a while now pal, just wondering how you're getting on. Any buyers remorse, any other things you wished you'd considered over that?
How have you found it around traffic in town and most importantly where does it need work?

you aint comparing like for like the 600/650 bandit is only 80hp and your gsr750 is 105hp about the same as a bandit 12 and that hasnt really got a powerband either and will pull from from 2k to the redline

Absolutely love it, no regrets

The only downside is the pillion seat and lack of pillion grab handle

Yes I am he asked how does it compare to a bandit 600 so that's what I did, would be daft of me to compared it with a bike he has never rode
