hi all, have had this prob for sometime now and its leaving me scratching my head.its an intermediate fault, bike will start somedays some not, sometimes it starts no prob then if i stop and try start it doesnt play ball. When i push start button lights on dash go out including odometer and no real noise or click anywhere, but when i put jump leads on from car it starts no prob.its that bad i have a set of leads under back seat for jump....battery is new and is full of charge and volts increase when running, have looked up manuals and on net and they suggested starter relay or starter brushes..can anyone help?if anyone has or knows of a relay or brushes for a mitsuba sm-14 id happly buy.cheers..jc..

i had a similar problem on another bike, ended up being brushes but as a short term fix i found rocking the bike forward in gear kinda 'freed' up the starter and was able to turn over. not answering your question at all as i don't have or know anyone who does have said items..am having my own nightmare electrical problems at the moment and i've almost scratched through my head :/

Get the official manual and use that starter motor fault finding process before you go chucking money at it. I can't stress enough just how good the suzuki workshop manual is. You'll learn something new and you just might find if you can use it you'll start looking at the rest of it. Ive saved myself hundreds of pounds just by making the initial step doing this sort of thing. I rebuilt the engine after replacing the gearbox and im no mechanic and that was using the official workshop manual. It's well written (the japs are experts at 'processes') and easy to read.
