Default Bike parking

Why is it such a bloody hassle! #sigh#

Everytime I want to go to a town less familiar than the norm, I end up worrying about parking, where can I leave it? Will it be safe? Don't want to/refuse to pay £2.50 for an hour, maybe two. Try to leave it in supermarkets but then feel I should purchase something to warrant parking...aaaaargh winds me up. I loves me bike but this one aspect of biking grinds me down sometimes. When I normally go to my local towns I know where to park ok so it's not a bother. And I don't spend long there anyway. But when I want to meet up with someone in a not so familiar place it's frustrating.

How do you folks get round it?

I just park up in a suitable spot, leave it. If I think where I am going is 'dodgy' I'll take me big lock and chain but that is a PITA if I have a pillion.

Aye, it's not really the walking off I'm bothered about, more someone driving into it, knocking it over etc.

I always put a disc lock and sometimes chain on anyway if I'm leaving it.
