Footpegs/Rearsets - Faired 'S' vs naked?
Hi all,
I understand that the naked footpegs are lower than the S, how much lower? Mine's an S-K3 and as I'm now an old fat tall git I'm hoping to swap/buy a pointy naked set, assuming they just swap over with no issues. I'm very cheap (steady on!) so cost is a real issue. My wanted ad is here, written before I asked the obvious question in this most obvious of forums (or is it "fora"?). O mighty .org, impart your wisdom!

You could have a look at these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Riser-Plat...ht_1280wt_1084
According to the listing they'll need a bit of grinding to go "back and down" on a pointy. The quality is good, especially for the price. I had a set and only got rid coz I would have preferred back an inch, and not up or down.

Interesting, thanks for the link, I might investigate.
I wonder what "a bit of grinding" means..?!

Re: Footpegs/Rearsets - Faired 'S' vs naked?
the grinding ,
as you can see in the pic of the brake lever side its very close to the routing of the zaust so you might have to grind a mill or two off the bottom of the plate for clearance isuses, i have a set abite multi positional ones from a different maker and didnt need to grind anything ,that were used on a 650 and thou without issue but grinding a bit off would be a challenge if required dave |

Thanks Dave, which ones did you get? Do you know if they're still available?

Re: Footpegs/Rearsets - Faired 'S' vs naked?
I bought a set of the Ebay ones for my pointy but there was no way to make them fit with my link pipe. Back was ok but the down part dropped the brake lever on top of the link pipe (left side was ok). Gave up in the end and slung them in the spares box. Just about to try some Buell pegs when back after the winter lay up.
So be warned, they may not fit depending on your exhaust system.

Don't suppose you still have them, MJC-DEV? I could have a go...

Re: Footpegs/Rearsets - Faired 'S' vs naked?
Thanks to MJC-DEV, I fitted his unused set of Hungarian risers off eBay onto my S-K3, upside down to set them back and down.
I had borrowed a mate's grinder, ready, expecting it to be required as per the ad. Twenty minutes later, they were both on, levers working ok, no fouling, no grinding needed simple and easy. I suspect I have been lucky but I have no idea why - there seems to be no way to get close to any brake lever/exhaust fouling, miles of room Unless I've done something terribly terribly wrong and both rearsets will fall off tomorrow..? Anyway, problem solved, the trickiest bit was getting the brake light switch working at the right point! Guess I've been very lucky.
