Default Adjusting chain on side stand?

Is it frowned upon to adjust your chain slack whilst the bike is on the side stand, given that the wheel is already aligned properly.

When I had my rear tyre puncture repaired they aligned the wheel on a paddock stand with quite a bit of slack and then adjust the slack with the bike on the side stand. Seemed to work as the wheel was still aligned and only took 1 minute to get the correct amount of slack and tighten the axle ready to go.

Many will say it is the recommended method.

The method given in the SV handbook is to use the side-stand.

That's good then. I'll start doing it that way, seems a lot easier. Thanks

I adjust the chain on a side-stand then check the tension when the bike is on the side stand. Pop it up and down.

If you want to get really technical you should do it while you’re sat on the bike, but, I don't know anyone who can check the tension on their chain while being on the bike and keeping all their weight on the seat.

Anyway, you have 10mm of le-way, so, as long as it is less than 35mm and more than 25mm you can’t be too far out
