Would appreciate some feedback on the following. ....I have acquired an SV650 K6 track bike. The forks have Maxton springs and cartridges. I notice that the pre load adjusters are fully wound out ( no pre load ) . Does this sound correct and if so why....if not then where is my starting point. Thanks Richard.

I'd adjust the preload so you have about 20 - 25mm of static sag, ie the bike compresses the forks by 20 - 25mm under its own weight (no rider). You'll need someone to help you hold the bike upright to check this - putting it on any type of stand will affect the weight distribution. Take all the weight of the font by lifting it untill the forks are fully extended and measure from the dust seal to the bottom yolk, then let the weight of the bike compress the forks and measure again. A tape measure will do as you don't have to be mm perfect. My paperwork from Maxton says rebound damping should be 8 dots out from fully scewed in - are the stickers with the dots on still in place?

Sorry, I didn't ignore your reply - I just didn't notice it had automatically gone in the Junk email untill I returned from my holiday! How are you getting on with the Maxton setup? I dont think you can download info from them, but they are very helpful if you contact them.

Oops crash Dosnt sound to good , to add to the above about preload if you didn't get it sorted out, you should do front and rear at the same time or the bike won't be balanced , for a track bike öhlins recommends 15mm ish static sag(no rider just bike) front and 10-15mm rear with about 25-30mm front and Around 25-35 rear rider sag (rider on bike)
