Welcome.
It makes a good looking bike but works out very expensive. The fairings brackets, lights and screen, fairing and seat unit are all sold as seperate units. Then you've got to paint them. If you're getting a curvy I suggest buying the best you can, living with it for a while, and seeing what you want to do with it. All that fairing cash could do a lot for the suspension and fuel miles. Probably not what you wanted to hear but probably the best route into a happy ownership. |

hi thanks for the reply, and well i am saving money from buying a gsxr and insuring it so dont mind paying couple of hundred quid to do it, the website shown is £260 then will have to paint it which doesnt seem to bad, but then have to buy lights etc just wondering if anyone had either bought that or done it some other way within reason as i know you can probably fit any fairings you want aslong as you make the brackets and do abit of filing etc.

It depends what you're looking for!
My fella' unfortunately had a crash which lead him to bin his fairings ate they were just mangled and cracked so he turned his SV into a street fighter with double headlights and I wasn't really a fan. Since he has had more money he has bought a new front fairing and kept it semi naked and he's thinking of buying a belly panel which actually looks pretty good for a alternative! If you're looking for a different style for the side fairings have a look for somebody who customises this sort of stuff ![]() |

The Twinshack prices on screen don't include VAT. That's a right kick in the nuts when you get to the checkout.
I've used a Poly26 seat unit and, whilst I love the design, the build quality isn't great. Poorly finished, you can see daylight through it, the two parts didn't actually fit together without stretching (which can cause problems for filler & paint), it wasn't symmetrical - the undertray was so far out I had to take a dremel and hacksaw to it. After it was fitted I found I had to make some more changes as the bikes rear subframe would eventually have punched a hole through it. That's not to be entirely unexpected in the world of aftermarket fairings - you're buying fibreglass parts at a much lower price than OEM plastics - but they're still at the top end of their bracket for price and I expected a little better. The quality is really no better than race plastic. A lot of their stuff does look nice from a design point of view though. If it's what you want then go for it - I don't intend to put you off. I just want to let you know what you might be getting into. I'm glad I put the work into mine now, but it very nearly had a hammer through it on a few occasions. ![]() Last edited by TamSV; 18-06-12 at 11:17 PM. |
