Just had the most random phonecall from a colleague. Her flatmate is on his BMW R1100 in the alps an the Spyball alarm has decided to immobilise the bike. So he's stuck 2 days from anyone who can help.
Any ideas oh mighty org? I know that isn't a lot of info to go on! PM me if you can assist!

if as I suspect the rider hasn't the knowledge to know where to look, they aren't going to be able to remove it and retain a working bike, I'd suggest they do the basics, check for an inline fuse, all the plugs are clean and plugged in properly and the remote battery is in good shape.

Remote battery first, does he have the alarm code? It's on a blue credit card sized bit of plastic, and is used to disarm the alarm without the remote, it's a bit fiddly to use, but it will work if the fob has failed.
I don't think the 'rip it out' suggestion is very sensible, there may be no problem other than a battery, butchering the wiring at the roadside is most unlikely to improve the situation.

but if it aint the battery or loose wire and the alarm is broke then tracing the wiring to ignition then makeng a link wire to reconect the ignition circuit should work, afterall it is a bmw R1100 and the elecric's should be straight forward, and most of the wires on the alarm go to things like the indictors(4wires)little red light(2 wires)live feed and earth(2 wires)and 2 wires to the ignition,on my suzuki the wire to the coils was near the rear light and the link wire was remove and then connect to the alarm,i know it only sounds simple after youve managed to remove one your self in the past but i doubt it will be that difficult, and it only looks daunting if you dont trace where the wires go and what they all do,and i suspect if the battery in the remote is dead then you will need the code to get it to work again and that can sometimes be as difficult to put in as takeing the alarm off,of cause theres always the unplug it and plug it back in fix that work on some electricail products

Some times warming the remote will give the battery a boost enough to send the signal.
Out side interference from phones etc can block the code . hold it close to the unit.
