Right, recently at work i have been having debates on what is better faster, cars or bikes, this is anything from braking, accelerating and cornering. They all think that a bike is only better in a straight line due to its insane power to weight ratio, but i keep telling them that this is not so. Excluding f1 cars cause they are stupid fast, cars such as ferraris and lambos will not beat a bike round alot of tracks.
So basically i wanted to create this thread to get all you views of what you believe is better and for you to post evidence supporting both cars and bikes and we see who is faster. Such as lap times, o-60s, 0-100-0, 100-0s etc etc |

I'm going to pick Nurburgring lap times as an illustration. For the 20.6km full lap a Radical SR8 has done 6m48, while the fastest lap on a YZF-R1 is around 7m25s. (7m10s to the gantry)
So at the extreme end of the spectrum, cars are a little faster, mostly because they can brake harder. But once you figure money into the equation things look a little different. For £20k you buy and set up an R1 to compete with cars costing ten times that much. Last edited by keith_d; 03-11-12 at 10:38 PM. |

like DT said, depends who's driving it.
I've yet to see someone driving a "sporty" car drive it well, they can never set the corners up properly. |

Driven hard a car is superior in all but acceleration, that said we are talking v-expensive cars, on a track with pro's at the control of both I (IMO) think that cars have it won. However on the public highway bikes have it, that being said yesterday on the M3 I was in my car when a bike came barreling up behind me flashing his light to get me out the way, so (naughty I know) I put my foot down, he stayed with me till 130ish then dropped back and ave up totally, so in short, very much down to what and driven/ridden by who.

Even in a sv650 vs Subaru on the twisty stuff with equal rider/driver. The car will out handle the bike fact.
The bikes got the stopping power as well as the acceleration but can't handle public roads as well as a car. |
