Thought I'd post this for anyone considering a new winter jacket - My new Frank Thomas Raptor Sport jacket. I picked this up from the Mega Motorcycle Store for just £50. They are being sold elsewhere on ebay for around £150 - so a pretty good bargain really. I've been wearing it the last two weeks and it's warm enough (a two hour ride at around 2 degrees and I was fine) and has kept me dry so far.
Frank Thomas gear sometimes gets a hard time - but I think this is a good quality bit of kit and at just £50 far superior to anything else in that price bracket. Loads of pockets (9 external and 3 internal) and a full zip out thermal liner - What I also liked about it was the length - in between a short sports jacket and the usual longer winter jackets - This means it doesn't bunch up around the chest. I like the cuffs too which are wide enough to allow you to put gloves inside the jacket or tighten with the velcro straps so gloves can go on the outside too. It has adjusters on the arms in the form of a strap on the upper and lower arms. A nice Rukka style neoprene collar which is handy at keeping the rain from running down your back ! There are also two vents on the front and two on the back - obviously I've not had the chance to test these yet but I'm sure there will be the usual 4 days this year when it's hot enough to employ them !! Size wise they come out small so you may want to size up - I'm 5' 8" and went for a medium - It's a snug but that's how I like my jackets to fit. All in all I'm pretty chuffed with this. ![]() If you want one here's where to go; http://www.megamotorcyclestore.co.uk...hite/#reviewsa Last edited by Jay-ninja; 19-01-13 at 08:15 AM. |

I bought one for £40 new and sent it back. It felt very much like a lightweight summer jacket to me. I'm not suggesting it wasn't warm or waterproof, I didn't try it, I'm just saying it felt light and flimsy.
I wasn't impressed by the material or build quality either. It had an almost disposable quality to it, in my mind anyway, with cheap poor stitching. The fabric didn't apear very hard wearing either. I didn't rate it as worth the £40. The funny thing is I liked it. It felt great on somehow but nah, I had to return it. I'm trying hard not to say it was cheap carp, because I did like it (somehow) but...it didn't feel like a motorcycle jacket to me. It's not my intention to deliberately contradict you mate. I just wanted to share my thought regarding the jacket. It's all subjective.
