Default 1999 SV650S Tuning/Servicing?

Hi Guys,

I recently bought a 1999 SV650S with 30k on the clock which is great. Now a couple of years ago i had a K3 SV650S which had 15k on the clock was great but had to sell it due needing a car bad times. I remember the K3 ran perfect, very smooth through all the gears throughout the entire rev range but the 1999 SV feels a whole lot different. Its not that smooth especially when you get upto about 7k revs just feels very raw if that makes sense???

Theres still alot of power there and really moves when you twist the throttle its just the power doesn't feel like it should. Feels a bit grainy. So hard to describe.

I don't know when the bike was last serviced so i have started doing bits myself as i use to service my K3 and that was always in tip top condition.

The bike also has a very annoying rattle which sounds like the cam tensioner, doesn't really disappear when on the move so was thinking of replacing the existing tensioner with one from a K4 which i had read are suppose to be alot better.

So far i have:
Replaced the coolant and checked all hoses
Checked all valve clearances and are in spec
Had to drain some engine oil as last own over filled by changing the oil on the side stand.
Checked spark plugs and both are perfect
chain cleaned and adjusted to spec

I was thinking about syncing the carbs as again i don't know when it was last done or whether it has ever been done. Should i think about replacing the plugs?

Any other suggestions would be great as i think its a real pity when people don't look after there bikes.

Thanks in advance.

Si

Synchronize the carbs.
Besides being newly cleaned and adjusted, are the chain and sprockets in serviceable condition?
It's a relatively noisy engine that vibrates like a 90 degree v-twin. Maybe you forgot? Maybe there's something on the chassis that's loose or broken?
