I tried searching the forum for this topic but came up empty handed. Has anyone tried any of the gel seats available on Ebay or other sites? I come to a pointy K5 from a GS500F. So far the switch has been worth every penny, except for the seat comfort. I notice that after 20-30 minutes in the saddle, my, and I'm sorry for this, but my crotch starts to hurt, much like it would sitting on a mountain or road bike seat.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions? Are the $250-400 gel seats I see on Ebay worth the expense, and would it solve this issue anyway? Thoughts? |

I was a bit like this to start with but the more I rode the bike, the more I got used to it. Might just take some time.

I'm unable to help specifically, but I will say that as comfort is such a personal and subjective thing that the opinions of others are of little value.

I had a custom seat made for my pointy as it was scooped out to allow for my being vertically challenged, and they added a gel pad which does mean I seemed to suffer less on longer journeys than my fellow pointy riders.
Mr LPH has an Airhawk that I've borrowed on a few occasions for longer journeys on various bikes and even on my super comfy GS I still find that the Airhawk means you arrive without feeling like you've had your butt kicked for 80+ miles. They aren't that cheap, may be worth seeing if you could borrow one for a day, but the advantage is if you only keep the SV for a year the Airhawk stays with you for the next bike or you can sell it.

I've got a custom Bagster seat, alongside the official Suzuki gel seat, and while they're both noticeably better than the original, I personally much prefer the Bagster one for long distance comfort.

My curvy had a plank for a OEM seat
I had a OEM gel seat, which was good, but my custom Saxon seat is a bit better. Don't buy a $250 - $400 gel seat, get yours converted with a gel pad
