Default Tapping noise, Curvy.

Have been getting the SV ready for summer and, since changing the oil, have noticed a tapping/knocking noise that seems loudest from under the clutch cover.

I noticed it first straight after the oil change, and with bike on the side stand it seemed to lessen with the clutch in. I then put it on the abba stand, topped up the oil, and now the clutch has no effect on it. The only other major change recently is a replacement set of carbs, which were balanced last weekend.

It seems like it is happening at all revs, though it's hard to hear it much beyond idle.

A clip of it - it starts being really noticeable at around 50 secs.

That just sounds like your carbs are still out of balance.

Thanks Gary. Have checked the balance again and they are spot on. Checked with different gauges and they were slightly out, but adjusting them again makes no difference to the tapping. Even deliberately un-balancing makes no obvious difference.

Can you hear it from the plastic cover on the side... as in my case many years ago it was one of the clutch basket spring bolts had come loose and was rubbing the cover as it span round.

Popped the clutch cover off and all the bolts are fine there. Listening with a screwdriver it seems to be loudest from the rear cylinder. Valve clearances were checked about 4k miles ago and were fine.

End to this is; took it to the garage and they say it's fine, just normal clutch noise.

I have a pointy, but I've had this same noise since I picked up my bike with 5k miles on it and always assumed it was normal.
