This ride takes place this weekend 5 Sept. The Mike Ellis Memorial Fund raises money to improve emergency medical provision in rural areas following the death of motorcyclist Mike Ellis under the wheels of a lorry reversing blindly. Having been only lightly injured in similar circumstances recently, it's a cause close to my heart. Googling will find the details of the fund and the ride and also the fund's Virgin Giving page.
There's an associated campaign rearview.org aimed at reducing the dangers caused by commercial vehicles of all sizes reversing blindly. If you do nothing else do look at this campaign's website. You'll learn a lot. And terrify yourself.

Saw this today on a fast A road. It was only the intervention from another lorry driver coming the opposite way to me who stopped his line of traffic and acted as banksman that I didn't get wiped out!
Especially dangerous as the roads get wet and muddy.
