Default REF carburetor

I have bought a synchromate for synchronizing my carburetors.
The manual says to make sure I connect to the reference carburetor first. Usually this is the carb connected to the throttle cable. This is the front carburetor.
When I read the SV manual, it says to adjust the vacuum gauges from the rear carburetor.
Which carburetor should I use?

Doesn't matter a ****e, there is no reference carb just a front and a rear.

The balancing adjuster adjusts the rear carb.

The instructions refer to engines with more than two carbs
