Fuel tap diaphragm Problem
hi, need some advice please, I have an early sv carb model. Great bike and very reliable, until the other week, when it ran rough, turned out the fuel tap diaphragm failed and fuel leaked into the engine. the bike shop replaced it, but after one day it failed again. Has anyone else had this problem. The bike shop has replaced many other diaphragms with no problems, bandits are prone to failing

Re: Fuel tap diaphragm Problem
Until you get a better answer and bear in mind I'm new to the SV650 family of Motorcycles if it were me I'd buy this,
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-Sv-...MAAOSw2xRYmNuX and sort out the other one or not if the 2nd hand one worked. For £12.95 it's well worth a punt IMHO. |

Re: Fuel tap diaphragm Problem
No it's not a common problem and I'd say they'd not done it right for it to fail after one day
You can get service kits from Suzuki or Wemoto

Re: Fuel tap diaphragm Problem
I had one fail, resulted in the entire contents of the fuel tank draining into the sump and contaminated the oil.
I replaced the diaphram myself and no further problems after that. However, something you might want to consider doing as petrol will thin the oil and depending how much leaked out your oil now might also have been contaminated by the leaked fuel.

For the cost of some fresh oil and a filter it's not worth risking an engine IMHO.
