Default David Jones in Newtown

I've seen a post on FB that David Jones is no longer supplying new Suzuki motorcycles. Such a shame. I guess this is a move by Suzuki rather than David Jones. If that's the case then it's very shortsighted as there are no other Suzuki dealers within a reasonable distance.

Blimey, that's something of a shock! They've done new Suzukis for as long as I can remember.

Longstanding shops seem to be closing at an alarming rate these days. I know brands do sometimes thin their suppliers every now and then but after the big cull of small, family owned Solus dealerships 15-20 years ago you'd think cutting more would be going too far.

David Jones also owns the Honda centre in Shrewsbury so I asked there what the story was. Apparently it was a mutual split with Suzuki. They were not selling many bikes and Suzuki were not heavily promoting sales unlike Yamaha. Suzuki haven't done much globally to halt their decline, the new 800 twins are good but most of their range seems to be a rehash of existing models.
