Default Filtering in Portsmouth

We that was fun this morning... had to go down to the pompy centre and pick up my wife from a car electrical place before I went to work. Major traffic! Loads of filtering, forgot how much I enjoy doings it. Even if I did have to filter the lenght of Eastern Road, had some guy on a moped infront of me doing a really bad job at filtering. Showed him how its done. Got past him sharpish! Also cliped a van mirror this morning, nothing major only a light brush, but I will need to watch out and sharpen my skills a bit. Though I think I surprised a few people with my skills, even with Jax on the back.
Oh and something that I noticed was that lorry drivers would move their 8 wheeled trucks over to let me though. But most car drivers just sat their unaware of what was going on in the world
Oh well it was fun.. now just the journey home. Unless it clears up then I might be up the viewpoint for lunch.

If you liked that, come and play in the London traffic

Knee sliders aren't there to get your knee down - they're there to scrape along the side of buses when the gap gets a bit small

Lorry drivers are some of the best drivers on the road and probably the most observant. Most will let a bike past before pulling out or pull over slightly to let a bike filter. Most car drivers (predominantly in 4x4s) do sit there staring in front and not paying attention to the rear, even swaying wildly across their lane is not uncommon.

Saying that, I'm getting pretty good at filtering now that i'm travelling from home to Derby daily through early morning traffic. Nothing better than daily practice on the bike to improve your road going skills. No doubt if i were to go it on the track i'd get loads of critics as its a different technique completely.

What a brilliant idea. My nice new leather trousers have the velcro, I thought that I would never need sliders (I'm not that brave), Jabba suggested that I get them and show them the angle grinder, but I would know the truth.

Mr. Toad you have changed my opinion of sliders completely. Thanks

Where I come from (Cannock, Staffordshire), car drivers that do notice you will actually move across to try and block you and make your life as difficult as possible. They are very anti-bike round here and there is a very high percentage of aggressive drivers amongst us (probably worse than London because most London drivers know that a bike is a good way to get through the traffic, even if they haven't got a bike themselves or wouldn't even buy one. But Here they are just plain aggressive for the sake of it and make bikers lives as dificult as poss for the sake of it! They are pathetic and I hate them )

If only it were true

Most of the cage drivers are verging on the edge of road rage all the time as it takes so long to get anywhere due to the high volume of traffic. So they drive too fast, too close, jump the lights, and generally behave as if they were playing a video game.
Nothing, but nothing, pi***s them off so much as having a bike or scooter trundle past them - always assuming that they see the bike in the first place

Nearly got taken out this morning by some dopey woman driver changing lanes without looking

Loud can here I come
