Default Coming home

Three more day's and i'll be back home in sunny Plymouth after spending 7 long months in the Gulf, keep watching west country news for a big grey warship called HMS Somerset. I've got to resist the temptation to bypass the wife and head straight to the garage. Does anybody in the Plymouth area know of anybody good to go to for body panal spraying? Hope to met some of you in the new year, Merry Christmas to all and stay safe. chris

Welcome back Chris.

If you do get out on the bike take it easy as it hasn't rained much for a few weeks here so roads are very dirty and slippy.

As for panel spraying, I've no idea. You could try posting the question on www.southwestbikers.com. There's a few more Plymouth people on there than here.

Might see you around in the New Year.

bikerskez, I don't know whether you are aware of this but your ship,
HMS Somerset, is all over the news today. Apparently, there is some
sort of problem with the captain and he had to leave the ship in
Gibraltar. Hope all this doesn't affect you.

Top story on the BBC website...........

The Press will be awaiting your arrival at Devonport.

Navy commander ordered back to UK

HMS Somerset is on its way back to the UK from the Gulf
A Royal Navy warship captain has been relieved of his command and ordered to return to the UK, amid allegations of bullying and intimidation.
Commander David Axon was ordered off HMS Somerset, returning from the Gulf, after a complaint by a junior officer.

The Ministry of Defence conceded the decision, taken after an "equal opportunities investigation", was a highly unusual one.

Cdr Axon will have the opportunity to put his case to a Royal Navy inquiry.

He was recalled to the UK while the ship was in port in Gibraltar.

Cdr Axon has been replaced as captain of the ship by the Executive Officer, who will return the frigate to the Royal Navy base at Devonport, in Plymouth, later this week.

Cdr Axon has so far been unavailable for comment.

It is understood there are no allegations of racist, sexist or physical intimidation.

Although no decision on his future has been taken, if he is cleared he could be reinstated.

The MoD said: "The Royal Navy is an equal opportunities employer and is proud of its record.

The ship was in port in Gibraltar when the commander was removed

"The service takes all such matters very seriously and acts swiftly to resolve issues of this nature when they are reported.

"At this point, no decision on the CO's future has been taken.

"He has been invited to comment on the findings so far. It is not, however, considered appropriate that he remain on the ship at present."

HMS Somerset is on the final leg of her journey home after more than six months in the Gulf.

The ship's primary task had been to protect Iraq's two offshore oil terminals from terrorist attacks.

Default Coming Home.

Welcome home shippers. All this talk of your old man being removed makes for some interesting times ahead for you lot. Good work out in the Gulf by the way. Of course life is much better on a BLACK PIG, something like Trenchant. I could do with some of your jollies though. Have a good leave and like the man said, be careful. I came back alongside early December and it hasn't rained since. By the way, it's biters back here.
