Default Flashed by camera

Went through a red light this morning, it was changing as I was half-way over. Black ice, couldn't really stop so chanced it. Didn't realise bloody camera and some distance down the road I noticed two flashes a second apart in the mirror.

I heard something about the amount of flashes dictating whether a camera has ran out of film and I'm hoping this is relative to the number 2! Please advise.

I need some luck today. A stupid cow has sitting behind and to the right, decided to accelerate while coming into my lane. Genius! Some horn and brakes got no attention. At traffic lights I pulled up alongside and began calling her a stupid f'ing tw*t and so forth. She stared ahead like a zombee.

all i can say is if there was black ice about why would you put yourself in a position that you felt your only optiopn was to run a red? you should really slow down if not for yourself then for the safty of otjhers. my pet hate is people that run red lights

Fair enough. It's my first incident in 3 years. I was ****ed over that stupid cow. If I've been done fair enough.

I hope you're lucky - but the first flash will have been you crossing the line, the second will be of you further on... I think you'll be getting a letter

How far is "some distance"? Were you on the other side of the junction when the first one triggered?

If so then it's probably not you.

The "two flashes" thing applies to Gatsos............. 2 flashes and there's film in, one flash and there isn't.

So far as I know, all red-light cameras either have film in or are digital. They all have film in because:

1. It's a more serious offence (check the fines/points) and so dealt with more diligently by the authorities
2. They don't run out as often because they're not triggered so often as only idiots and those with low self-esteme are stupid enough to run the risk of triggering them.

Two flashes just mean it's taken a picture...don't know if it has any bearing on whether or not there is any film left in the spool! I got Flashed twice at a speed trap a while back, I was doing 30 something in a 30 zone while the A8 was being upgraded. Never got a letter though!

Just need to keep your fingers crossed.

Phil.

I've gone through lights that are just about to change to red and do so as i'm going across the junction but never on red.

You shouldnt be going through lights so fast when there is a chance of them changing. Strangly, that is the exact reason why my examiner failed me on my last driving test although i dont think it was justified. Something along the lines of i was too close to the car in front and i would have had to brake too hard.... b*ll*cks was i....

The flashes happened a long way after I'd cross the lines, perhaps 50+ meter before I saw the first flash.

There was no cars behind but one slightly back in left hand lane which had either came through legally and accelerated hard, turned through an amber going green and been flashed or had come from behind me and flicked lanes quickly.

If the first flash happens on the line then I'd say I'm safe, maybes ...
