Hi,
I currently have a Honda CB500S and I'm seriously contemplating swapping it for a SV650. I haven't test ridden one yet, I plan to do that over the weekend. But I am concerned that the seating position of the SV650S will be too sports like for me. I'll find out the weekend. Have many people out there done any mods to increase the handlebar height, clip on risers, top yoke mods ? I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good after market bikini fairing for the SV650 (i.e. non faired version) ? I have seen a picture in the Catalogue page 1 of the images section on this site, that has a very nice looking SV650 with a nice aftermarket market bakini fairing. The Image has the file name 0svfaring.jpg. Could someone tell me who makes this faring and where it can be ordered from ? Thanks -- great site ! |

I've got the 's' version.......it nearly killed me for the first couple of months...wrists and shoulders. BUT I did get used to it and now the only problems are the seat after a couple of hours. If your after comfort then maybe you would be wise to try a few other bikes first. I dont see the point of handlebar risers, just get the sit up version? Having said all that..... if your planning any longer tours or lots of motorway driving then the s version is the way to go. It was only after I'd run it in and took to the motorway that the bike's riding position made sense....Absloutely brilliant at 85+ and beyond. Rock solid and comfy. ( apart from numb bum syndrome)

Hi,
I recently changed my GS500 to a SV650S and cannot believe what a difference it makes. Although i'm still running it in, i have noticed the difference in braking, cornering, obviously the acceleration, slow speed control and general feel quality. I commute to work (50 miles a day) for the first couple of days i had aching wrists, but now the aching feeling has completely gone. I had the lower fairing kit added, the looks are great and the fairings make such a difference, the bike feels more solid and stable on the road than the 500cc. You will not be disappointed, i wasn't Cheers T0mm0 |

I've just swapped from a CB500 to a SV650. Can't comment on bar position of the S but fitting a screen has made a big difference, cruising at 80 is easy enough. Main differences are smoother more linear power, more torque and better suspension/ride quality. Finish on the suzuk is dismal, will need lots more tlc than the CB needed but overall a nice move up.
JonC the CB500 is for sale if anyone after a good commuter! |

wide bars on a SVS is a common mod, for those who can't get on with the riding position. Found this pic in the gallery section:
![]() no idea whose it is... but its a damn nice colour ![]()
