"Michelin Macadam" used to be interchagable for "s**** tyre made out of shoe leather" but these may be different...

I've got Macadam 90s (almost identical fore-runner to the Macadam 100) on my Deauville.
They're made of granite, I've done 10k and the rear looks about half worn. OK in dry conditions but give little confidence in damp/greasy/wet conditions. They don't even start in the same ballpark as BT020s (which are on my SV) for feeling of security. For an SV I'd go with Conti Road Attack or Mezeler Roadtec Z6 now, judging by the reviews here in the "tyre review" forum. Prices are very little more than those on ebay, and you've got the recommendation of several very experienced SV riders. ![]() |

I know the Bandit 1200 is a completely different bike to the SV, but my dad had a pair of Michelin Macadams on his B12 and said they wer ace, he had tryed a few different types of tyres on the B12 in the few years he owned it, and said the Michelin Macadams came out best everytime wet or dry riding

I'm running with Z6s but the only thing I'd say is I have no intention of taking the bike to the track again with a front Z6... They're fantastic for the road and I'd fit them again tomorrow but I felt that I'd found their limits at Knockhill a bit too easily, with my hamfisted braking at least
![]() But they're just fantastic for road use, the high mileages are more or less a bonus, since on the road they do exactly what I want a tyre to do anyway, and they're better in the wet than, say, Sportecs.
