Default 33Bhp SV650s K5

Can anyone tell me, how affected a SV650s is with a 33Bhp restrictor kit fitted?

I was sold it has the same acceleration as an unrestricted one and that only the top speed was affected?

Not true. At 6-7000rpm or so is where the SV hits the power band and takes off. When restricted that doesnt happen, there is a big flat spot instead. Still good fun though

Top speed - restricted it'll still do over 100mph.

ah well, I guess it'll still be a step up from my CBR125R with all of it's 12bhp !!!

At first clance I read this thread as 338 hp. Which seemed quite alot to get out of the trusty 650 unit.

O.K. 33 bhp, now I get it.

Sorry can't help with the query but find it useful as my bike will be 33 bhp when I get it.

mine is a restricted K2

On the motorway the top i got it to (with strong winds) was 100-110.

All the power disapears at 7-8k. Still fast enough in town.

You guys getting factory restricted bikes or full power ones and then restricted locally?
And does anyone know if the aftermarket restriction on the k4/k5 involves an injection chip change or just the ole washers in the exhaust job?

I think the fuel injected bikes need an engine management system change to restrict or de-restrict

Yep, I believe they just change the CDI box.

Ah well I can live with it for another 12 months...i hope!

Yep, this is all it is - a little black box that is switched out for a restricted one. Really easy to change.
