I've managed to source some bandit forks 2003 model which do have the 41mm stanchions, but would like some advice as to whether they're a direct replacement or i would need anything else, Any one help??????

I thought the Bandit forks were the same cheapass damper rod type as the SV, in which case it doesn't matter if they're any beefier, they no better. Anyone know more than me?

If they're the same fork diameter, then all you need to worry about is the wheel, width, mudguard and speedo drive situations.
Width first- if the forks are spaced differently far apart than on the bandit, then a bandit axle and spacers won't fit. Also, might mean the mudguard won't fit, and the calipers won't line up. I don't think Bandit and SV wheels or axles are interchangable... This makes it a lot harder. And I don;t think the newer bandits have a front wheel speedo drive, so unless you're very lucky you'd need to work something else out for the speedo. Sounds like potentially an awful lot of hassle to me. Could easily end up costing more than you'll save.

The old shape bandits take the drive from the front wheel, the newer ones take the drive from the front sprocket.
