Default Throttle response

Evening all,
I went out for a ride monday with a friend on his TL1000R and swapped bikes for a while. He commented that the throttle response on mine seemed very sticky, compared to his mine felt as if it was stuck in concrete. I'm talking about at a standstill, ie in neutral.
Obviously his is going to spin up quicker than mine but should there be a huge difference in the response when you twist the throttle and let it snap back to neutral? Any suggested adjustments?
Aside from that I was quietly pleased at how long my bike could stay with his considering the fifty bhp advantage and more race orientated set up etc.
Cheers

Sticky cables, or perhaps your bar end is pinching the grip... Could be bad adjustment in the cables as well.

what he said.

also if a cable is split, a splinter can cause a lot of resistance.

I'd think you'd be best to just use a proper one for a curvy... There's not a huge amount of adjustability. In the mean time, maybe you swap the return cable over to give you a throttle for the time being?

thanks for the input!

it was my return cable that broke, so I'm relying on only 1 cable now, but it'd be quite a disaster if that broke, so I'm looking around for a cable.

problem is, I'm riding a SV400.. and the 650 doesn't seem to fit onto the 400.. I'm not sure if the shop that gave me the cable took it from the newer version, which explains the misfit..

Ah, cool, not enough 400s around... You'll know better than me, but I'd be pretty surprised if they used different cables, so I reckon you're right about the part.
