Default Popping exhaust (and shiny wheels)

Iv'e still got my can in "race" mode (baffle out), and it rumbles nicely when slowing through the gears but do occasionally get a bit of a 'pop', is this damaging to the engine?
Also anyone polished their wheels before? Quite fancy it but wanna know whats involved apart from alot of work! Will they be more venerable to crap from the road and weather etc?

Carl,

That poping is nothing to really worry about mate... it happens with race cans, you may be running slightly rich, which is the poping you hear, if you want it sorted then put your bike on a Dyno run and get it set up properly for the race can.

As for the polishing your rims, yes it is alot of work to get them polished, it is also alot of work to keep them polished, and yeah, they are extremely vulnerable to crap in the winter.... i would personally recomend you get them powder coated instead. Just an idea.

Carl

If the popping is on overrun then it could well be a leak at the exhaust port, or perhaps a tthe joint with the can. If it pops while trundling I wouldn't worry about it. DJ is right about getting a proper dyno setup if you haven't already, but it might pop a bit anyway at certain engine speeds.

Popping on decelleration on the K3/K4/K5 is mainly caused by the PAIR system.
