Whats the CCM Like Then??

Well as u know, the Sv went to Yams abot a mounth ago now, and i changed my mind about theupgrade to a TL 1000 as the reason i was changing was because i was nervous of riding!

So i picked up a well price CCM 604e not far from YAMS place, on the test ride i dint really know what i was looking for, it went and stopped and was leggit, so that sold it too me!

The biek itself is a basic as the come, with an angine designed over 10 yrs ago, but has be very well proved, with derived modesl going into bike sused for the army and other such uses, it was in desperate need for a service which i duly did with the excessive suply of spairs the guy gave me with it!!

its a sngle cylinder lump, putting out just shy of 5o bhp. doesnt sound a lot, but has enough grunt to pull me at 15 stone up to shy of 90 with no wind protection at all, fun??? i havnt grinned so much in yrs

New tyres were a must and so £110 later , yep thats right £110!! i was ready for the summer!!

the bike needed a dam good clean, and so got the alex treatment with my unhealthy obsession with cleaning bikes, the mirrired awing arm now shines, and the plastics glisten in the sun, so does the exhaust! god bless auto soll!!! oh and pledge!

first gear ends quickly along with second, and 3rd will have u pulling up to shy of 60! its gittery around town, and doesn like to iddle, but im workin on all of these "charactoristics!" ignore 4th gear and get into 5th will have u eating b roads and overtaking lines of cars, corners dissapear over ur sholder as the soft but well damped enduro suspension is strangly suited to b roads we have around here!
It sticks but engine breaking coupled with a tight corner will have u headbutting the handle bars!

The most interesting thing about this bike is the attention it recieves, ppl look at it, even if they dont like it! just because its rare! (and noisey)

I am pleased with the bike, although im v glad i have a car, my cleanuing was undone in 3 minutes in the rain 2 nights ago, and this thing takes ages to clean, no fairing to hide the dirty bits!!
There is no doubt however, i want to go back to a sv or simmillar come this september, when commuting begins again, as the ccm, would prove to be a headache with all its "charactoristics"

fun, suprisigly so
nowt to break should i deck it
handling
acceleration
sound

Cons_
Parts are expensive
maintanence
cleaning
niggles
clutch is on its way out
will probably eat chains and sprockets,
not practicle
need dyno time
not a suzuki, dont expect it to start in the morning

So as a second bike or if u have a car, yes buy one, its soooo much fun, care free i think is the word, the engine is superb ,and the noise has u giggling like a girl in ur helmet, the engine shoudl go on for ever and ever providing u change the oil and an occasional belt!
Dont get one if u need to commute, i do miss the sv and several times wished i Had gone for the TL (same Insurance price) but atm i think i have made the right choice, but we will see as i have a bikesafe with the police and i wonder if ill be coming home on a truck??
