Default Time for Tyres

Both my 014's are now practically buggered and in need of replacement. As much as I can rave about them, because they are bloody lovely, I'm doing a 15 mile commute 5 days a week, as well as trips in the evening to places and rides at the weekends. This puts my weekly mileage at anything between 150-400 miles, depending on if I go out at the weekend or not. More to the point, I doubt the SV could challenge the amount of grip the 014's have.

The front 014 will probably see 5000 miles, which isn't too bad, but the first rear did 2500, and I think this rear will need to go to bed at 2000 (Summer riding, hotter temperatures etc).

What I'm after is a tyre with decent life, excellent grip in the wet, quick warmup, good dry grip, and preferably with a sporty profile.

I'm a brisk road rider mainly, but I'm hoping to get another few trackdays in this year.

I have had a look over the tyres forum, and the general consensus seems to be Metzeler Z6's, 020's or Contis Can't say I've ever heard of anyone liking the contis on anything else but the SV, but I'm open to try.

I was thinking of possibly an 014/020 combination, or possibly a Sportec/Roadtec combination. I'm open to suggestions and all views though mind.

Cheers Dan.

Note to Moderators: I know this should be in the tyres forum, but I'd appreciate if you could leave it here for a couple of days, as not many people venture in to the dark depths of the tyres forum. Cheers.

I've got Z6s on my thou and they are superb. Only done 250 miles on them, and the chicken strips are virtually gone

Can anyone be a bit more specific? wet performance, mileage, warm up etc? How the profile of the tyre is?

Sorry to be this boring

Ideally I'd like to know if anyones had the chance to make a comparison.

Cheers Dan.

Ive had 020's on mine for the past 8 months.

I got 8000miles out my front tyre but the sides had no tread left on and the middles had about a 1mm left.
The back one lasted about 4500miles and squared off in the middle.
They heat up quite fast but not as fast as 014 or 010's. I have been using these for 8 months and have every confidence in them. You can get your knee down with them and theres about 1cm chicken strip around the edge. Ive just had 014's fitted and im pleased with them now, warm up fast, hand full of throttle in corner and knee down, but im just concerened about the wear rate.

My mate has just fitted Dunlop 208s to his YZF Thunderace and is raving about them, he went to Germany last week and it rained most of the time and he said they were an excellent tyre for those conditions, they also warm up really quick too...
