2 questions re SV.

Been on the forum for a while (lurking) but now I need some advice from you good sirs and ladies:

1. I'm looking for a realiable (honest) dealer/garage in Twickenham/south west london fr a full major service, any suggestions? And how much woudl I need to budget for, this is a the big one the 14K service...

2. also any advice on removing the glue from an old tank pad from the tank? I dont want to scratch the lovely blue paint work.

its a 03 sv650S and I love it far more than is healthy.

2. WD40 might work.

2. Wd40 and a rough cloth (ie. tea towel)

Hair dryer will melt the glue.

If theres any residue, wd40 or nail polish remover or paint thinners will get it off. The nail polish remover shouldnt daamge the paint, but be careful.

Expect to pay no more than £250 maximum for the 14k service (Although if you run 4 k intervals, then 16k would be more appropriate)

This is if you dont do anything to the bike, so allow for things like brake pads etc, and the valve clearence check.

My K1 has done 38k, and hasnt had the clearnces done until now, but all bikes are different.

Lighter fluid is good for removing sticky stuff, that or coleman fuel from Millets. There used to be some stuff called Zoob(or similar) available form boots. its used to remove sticky residue from skin

1. West London Suzuki in Bedfont are pretty good - call 020 88319011 and ask for Ray.

2. Removing old glue - Autoglym intensive tar remover does the trick nicely. WD40 will do it, but with plenty more elbow grease!

Or similar stuff called Zoff - really good for removing Elastoplast glue from fingers, etc.

If it werent for all the extra bits, i'd consider this an oxymoron....

Dealers are only as good as your last vist. Some days your get good service others you dont its down to the person who deals with you, the mood they're in, season, workload.....
