Default front shocks

just looking at the pre load thread and it made me think im 13.5stone and i left it as std set up.
what does adjusting the front do in laymans terms

Imagine the following conditions: suspension fully extended, fully compressed and that somewhere in between when you're sitting on the bike.

Where should that somewhere inbetween be...

Well, when riding along as a rule of thumb you want the suspension compressed about one third of it's available travel, so it can compress a further 2/3, or extend 1/3 (this is because most bumps will compress the suspension).

The preload adjusters allow you to set the suspension so that this is acheived.
