Default stripped thread

hi,while putting hel lines on i stripped a thread on the caliper ,is there any repair i can do,the 1st 2 lines went on o.k.then this happened

you could try drilling it out and fitting a heli coil.

I would consider you get professional help....
After all Your brakes are the most important part of you Bike...

ps. heli coil might work but brake fluid is strange stuff and likes to leak through certain types of metal after a period of time, Me I wouldn't do it . I would be tempted to buy a new caliper..

Default stripped threads

hi,cheers for the advice i"d thought about heli coils but needed to see a mate for more advice,with it being the brakes i"m lookin for a new caliper

the thread on the calipers dont stop the fluid comming out thats the pressure on the banjo and the copper washers against the caliper. Get a heli coil, rethread the caliper and sort it out, should not be a problem at all. Make sure you put the copper washers on though.

you could always drill it out and tap it the next size up.

no, i was told you only get banjo bolts in one size for metric & imperial.

i would recommend you buy a new caliper.... you don't want to mess around with brakes!!!!!!

Replace the caliper, I would not trust a helicoil for something as important as my brakes. Remember if it fails you will loose both your front brakes as there is no independant feed to each caliper.

There are usually some floating about on ebay, but get new seals just to be sure if you go this route.



How the heck did you manage to strip it? overtighten or cross thread
