You'll be fine. I've done about 25 miles when the warning light has gone solid on the pointy K3.

I got caught out late Sunday in Wales last year (on a curvy 650S) - no petrol stations open and (riding gently) did 34 miles with the reserve light on solid, heart in mouth for the last 20 of them. Bike didn't miss a beat.

On the pointies it goes solid with 5 litres left, you can do a bit more than 25 miles.
On the curvies it goes solid at more like 2 litres. 8 miles should be doable but I would be worried about it.

Or half the tyres' rolling resistance, thereby decreasing fuel consumption, by wheelying all the way home

Just fill it up at the first petrol station ya get to and play dumb..... 'oh, sorry I've forgot me wallet'. Fill out the form and just go back and pay within 24 hours !! Done that a few times..... however, as above, you should make it no problem....
