I'm a bit neutral-challenged just now, despite much playing... Just fitted a new cable which hasn't helped either. Is this a fail? Don't think so but it's not going ot impress is it?
Likewise, the undertray is held on with gaffer tape... Very ugly and amateurish but is it a fail? The exhaust could be problematic but I'm just going to see what happens there. What do you reckon? Am I f*****? ![]()

I would say it is more likely to fail for the gaffa taped up parts, but at the end of the day, if it's secure, regardless of how it's done, then it wont fail. I once had a fuel pump that used to sit on the rear axle of my mazda held on by tie wraps. The tester didn't bat an eye over it.
Also TSM had half the front of his bike held together with tape. Including his indicators that were taped on top of his clocks. That still passed the MOT. |

I bought a Beowulf baffle which makes things a bit more reasonable on the exhaust front... I'll put the stock filter back in, that'll quiet things down a little too.

I spoke to my local MoT testing station and they said that so long as I take the bike in for testing BEFORE the MoT was due, they would pass it regardless of what was fitted to it, just so long as it was safe.

They said as long as it was secure and it would not fall off that would be ok. A little tug at the indicators by the MOT person and he said thats fine.

Walked it in the end, inspector was happy with the can and nothing else was an issue. Though he did nearly bin it riding it into the garage
![]() ![]() When he was testing the brake lights one of the rear bulbs blew, how unlikely is that? And last year the front brake switch broke on the 5-mile ride from my dealer to the MOT place.

I think most mot/workshops (IE not in the business of selling bikes, finance etc) take the view that if it is a safety issue it fails, if its stupid law, it is at thier discretion
I know my local test turns a blind eye to cans/reflectors, but I saw him fail an Aprilla for a non existant lock stop. He suggested my mate purchased a stick on refector for his R1 but conceeded there was nowhere to stick it so passed without.
