Default Got a tug theis morning ;o(

Along by the Palace along Constitution Hill I see a geazer on push bike telling me to slow down (just as well as I have been known to go a little too quick down there). Anyway, just after the pedestrian crossing a copper flags me down.

"Do you know why I have stopped you ?"

Hmmm, theres me thinking quickly.... Speed - no I think I was OK,

"No officer, I'm sure I wasn't speeding".

He then removes the amber lens cover from the front of the bike. "This is ileagal..... Clear or light yellow only" (Well done Fraser, go to the top of the class!)

"I only use it for commuting, car drivers tend to notice it"

He checks my tax, looks at my photo card licence, checks my tyres and says "If you put it back on when I'm not around then I won't know, but it can lead to points on your licence"

No comments about my can, plate, very fast indicators, black visor (you can see why I didn't know which bit of rule bending he stopped me for..... )

Decent bloke really, he's got a job to do, all we need to do is not make it difficult for him and he won't have a problem.

BUT... can you get points for having a coloured lens cover ?? I guess so as you have a defective vehicle (lights aren't as bright as they should be).

.

Only if they are switched on and illuminated. Otherwise you can say the bike is for daytime use only.

As for the actual conviction/fine, i'm not sure on that one.

Bit difficult NOT to have them on if it's anew bike though... Headlamps are on by default.

it is very distinctive
when in a group you certainly know which one is you & which one is Topcat

not so sure the car drivers notice, although it may just penetrate their thick skulls that something is about

I thought coloured lenses were only a problem when light conditions dropped and the light needed to be visible? Sounds like he was just trying to pull you up in general.

Don't think so, he could have "discussed" my can, my black visor, my plate... No I think he pulled me because I "looked" like I was speeding further up the road.

Im surprised its a points issue, I thought it was only points for tyres other than traffic offences. Then again, I seem to have a completely outdated knowledge of these things of late.
