Default z4`s or z6`s

HELP!

I recently bought used 650 K2 and need to replace tyres.

Went to order them at garage and the chap said to not to have z`6`s as too hard a compound

Everyone on this forum seems to say z`6 are the mutts nuts so what ones do i choose

The mechanic said that z6`s were a commuter tyre and too hard a compound and would `go off` before wearing out

Should i choose another tyre????? altogether???????

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks

Only under pain of death put on Z4s. The tyre dealer, in this instance, was a total feckwit. Z6s are far superior and seem to suit the SV nicely. The Pirelli Stradas are the same tyre but with a slightly different tread pattern. You might also wish to consider the Conti Road attacks (unless you live in Kent where, for some reason, they don't handle quite as well ).

I'll second the "don't use Z4" advice.

Shocking tyres (for the SV anyhow). Absolutely no rubber content. All plastic.

ditto the Z4.

One of the significant things both my mate and I found with Z4s was that they were reasonable for a couple of thousand miles but then within a few hundred miles suddenly changed character and became quite unpleasant.

No, the latest crop of tyres as named in earlier posts are way way better.

I haven't worn out the Pirellis* I have now, so the bottom line - how long they last - isn't known yet, but having has a set of the Contis before these Pirellis I think I ever so slighty preferred the Contis**.

*Pirelli Diablo Strada = Metz Z6, whilst not officially confirmed they are the same tyre it seems, this is belivable as Pirelli/Metzeler have been the same company for some time now.

**Vineys feelings on the subject valued but ultimately disagreed with.

The MEZ 4 were the original fitment on early SV,s they were and still are crap. Z6 Roadtech is a far superior tyre along with Conti Road atacks, even Bridgestone Battlax 020 are old hat now!

Your dealer has probably bought a job lot, so is now talking crap to sell them :P
