It depends on the weather, the traffic and what route you're taking. I get really ****ed off with mway miles, but sometimes it has to be done. Doing 300 odd miles of lesser roads can be very satisfying if you're in the mood.

Well long distance tends to be done on the motorways, so tends to be a bit dull. 500 miles is the most I've done in a day, mostly motorway.

However I've done a mix. About 250 miles in a day, around 100 (maybe less) of those racing though the twisty roads of the Pyrenees. Good fun, but I was shattered at the end of the day.

I did a 300 mile round trip to snowdonia and loved every minute of it. I think if the roads there wernt so twisty and exciting then such a long run would not of been so enjoyble.
I also did 200+ miles at the AR05. The actual ride out was great but the ride home wasnt very enjoyable (bloody motorways).

For me, long rides are enjoyable depending on the type of roads, scenery and type of riding.

If I didn't get enjoyment, I wouldn't do it. BTW 250-400 miles days ARE NOT high milage days, thats' just a regular sunday ride , high milage days are 500+

140 mph or kph

as may miles as I do, a 75mph pace is about as fast as I go, anything faster takes the enjoyment away and makes it tiring

Well last years Eurotour was about 1600 miles in 6 days, and myself and Topcat did Magny Cours last year which was a 1100 mile round trip in 3 days (and we only did 80 miles on race day). Love it all the time, and we try and keep off of dual carriageways as often as possible.

300 miles on a Sunday blast is not uncommon, neither is 150 miles on a decent evening (did that on Friday).

The more you ride the more you should enjoy....
