Default A note for people considering a home respray:

Don't drop your newly prepped panel down a flight of concrete steps.

Using my mind reading powers I detect that there may have been one or possibly two choice words

dont assume cos the tops dry the whole things dry... and dont then put your bike cover over your newly sprayed tank assuming the above unless you want an interesting "leather" effect

More tips... When you burned the midnight oil to get a batch of panels ready for priming, don't forget to spray one of them or you'll upset the neighbours with your language.

Remember when buying paint to buy way more thinner than you'd think you'll need- you need it for cleaning as well, remember. Quite annoyed that Paints4u didn't point that out when I was discussing my order actually, I reckon I'm going to need to order more for the basecoat.

Halfords thinner primer is like mana from heaven... Makes serious filler work so much easier to finish. The panels I'm spraying were quite mangled (no, I didn't do it) and so there's a lot of filler on there- couple of tins of this stuff = bargain. Get the panels nearly there, spray them up, wet sand back with P800, smooth as a baby's behind.

Something like a Black and Decker Mouse sander is also very nice to have-I'm doing a big renovation on my bellypan, and it's saved me so much grunt work. £6.99 from Woolies!
