Bought the 05 model a few weeks ago and had to take it back because the speedo wasn't working. Had to be replaced. Strangely enough Mr's speedo on his triumph daytona 955 has been playing up.

Have you had the front wheel off lately?

To expand on Flaming's cryptic post...

... the most likely thing, without a doubt, is that the speedo sensor in the front wheel has broken. They're very fragile, and once they go, they go!

Such is my confidence in this problem that I'd almost recommend that you go and buy a new one speculatively - they're about £10 I think

At least that way, you'll only have to take the wheel off once!

If it's the problem where the displayed speed is very eratic and sometimes tells you that your doing 800mph then goes straight back to zero then 50mph then zero and then works as normal and then goes loopy again, well if thats the problem I had the same one not so long back.

The front wheel had never been off the bike and it turned out to be a dodgy connection behind the head stock.

The problem was solved by lifting the tank and giving the connectors a clean and refitting them, problem solved.

hi guys front wheel has been off by 4/5 weeks ago for new tyre, took it back to the dealer to have a look and they have found out that there is a problem with some of the sv speedo sensers on 650/1000 models so suzuki are aware of the problem, so getting it sorted under warranty.

cheers guys happy motoring
